Narada Muni Visits Dwaraka

One day, Narada Muni, the great sage and devotee of the Lord, visited Dwaraka, longing to have a darshan (audience) with Lord Krishna. Upon his arrival, he was informed by the main queen, Rukmini, that Krishna was currently asleep.

Narada’s Request

Narada Muni, intrigued by the prospect of seeing Krishna in such a serene state, requested Rukmini’s permission to see Krishna while He slept. Rukmini, understanding Narada’s deep devotion and curiosity, consented but cautioned him to be very quiet. “Of course, no problem,” Narada Muni assured her, eager to witness the divine scene.

Krishna and Arjuna’s Devotion

Narada Muni quietly entered Krishna’s private chambers and was struck by an extraordinary sight. On one side of the bed lay Krishna, and on the other side, Arjuna. Krishna, even in His sleep, held Arjuna’s feet close to His chest, murmuring, “Arjuna, Arjuna, Arjuna, Arjuna…” with immense love and devotion. On the other side, Arjuna, deeply immersed in sleep, held Krishna’s feet and softly chanted, “Krishna, Krishna, Krishna, Krishna…”

Realization of Divine Love

Narada Muni was overwhelmed with emotion as he witnessed this beautiful exchange. He realized that even in their dreams, both Krishna and Arjuna were absorbed in thoughts of each other, showcasing the profound bond and love between the Lord and His devotee. This divine scene revealed to Narada Muni the depth of Krishna’s love for His devotees and how that love is reciprocated. Even in dreams, Krishna, who loves His devotees immensely, thinks about them and chants their names. Similarly, a devotee, filled with boundless love for Krishna, constantly remembers and chants the holy name of the Lord.

Lessons to be Learned

  1. Unconditional Devotion: True devotion to the Lord transcends all states of consciousness. Even in their dreams, Krishna and His devotees remain absorbed in thoughts of each other.
  2. Mutual Love: The relationship between Krishna and His devotees is reciprocal. As much as the devotees love Krishna, He loves them back even more.
  3. Constant Remembrance: Devotees should strive to remember and chant the holy name of the Lord at all times, understanding that Krishna is always thinking of them.
  4. Divine Bond: The intimate bond between the Lord and His devotees is beyond material understanding and is rooted in pure love and devotion.

Prayer

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

May we always remember and chant the holy names of the Lord with love and devotion, just as Krishna and His devotees eternally think of each other. May we cultivate a deep, unwavering bond with the Lord, experiencing His divine presence in every moment of our lives.
